Before I review a product, I make sure I put it through my everyday wear and tear for a year. I bought this unit because my mom still has her big bissell from 20 years ago and is still running like a charm. I have 2 dogs, and a 7 year old. My husband isn't exactly the cleanest either. I have done everything with the BigGreen from car/truck interiors, carpets, couches, recliners, hardwood floors, tile floors, microfiber, cloth, woven fabric etc. We have a rental house that I use this to clean as well, so that is double house duty. I even cleaned furniture that said dry clean only and it came out beautiful. Don't waste your time with the upright cleaners, I have gone through two of them in less than 18 months. Even my husband's fire department heavy duty upright broke after 10 months of occasional use. I have had no problems with suction, but this unit does spray liberally, so watch how much solution you spray. Only complaints I have is that the long wand should go back to being metal (like the old units). If you are going to push down hard on the wand, make sure you hold it closer to the head and then push. Clean-up is a breeze, using the unit is a breeze, even my husband cleans the floors more often now!

I bought this to replace my BIG GREEN MACHINE, which, sadly, died. I loved the versatility of the old model. This newest version also vacumns and cleans my carpets and furniture. The best option is how well it cleans hard floors! I will never again use a mop & bucket to clean my kitchen floors and hallway..It removes scuff marks & grease with no effort and sucks up the water...very little dry time. The built-in heater for the water is a nice addition. This would be a good product for anyone who has limited mobility/upper body strength. My only gripe is that the carpet head doesnot suck up the moisture as well as the old model. The problem is not the suction, but what appears to be a design flaw in the head attachment. It is easy to fill, empty and clean.

I love this vacumn, it completely cleaned my carpets and left them without a spot (which I didn't think was possible because they were so dirty). The only pain with this item is it is large (we have a tiny apartment) and emptying the water carriage is a pain in the neck if you don't have a backyard to clean it off with a hose. The bathtub doesn't work very well.

I gave this vacuum several chances to prove itself, but the amount of work you have to put in to simply vacuuming your floors is enormous. The dirt is collected in a tank with water in it, so you have to add 10 minutes to your cleaning time to dump all the mud down your toilet and try to rinse it out in the tub, then you have to wipe down the toilet and tub because they inevitably get splashed with mud. It's heavy to carry up stairs, and to lug around behind you. It does not suck up all the debris on rugs. The things it did well were vacuuming hardwood floors, and "mopping" hard floors. But at the same time, as soon as you get into a groove you have to back track to the canister and tug it over to the next section you want to clean. The carpet cleaning was a disappointment, I don't feel like my rugs were much cleaner, and unfortunately a Lego got stuck in the hose during a previous vacuuming excursion and messed up the suction while wet cleaning, so it dripped muddy water all over my carpets. Even after I took care of the blockage, residual water or cleaning solution would drip on my floors after I was done cleaning. And after wet cleaning you have to maintain the hose by rinsing it out with clean water and emptying it out somehow (hard to do when you are 5'4" and trying to wrestle with an even longer hose). Storage is an issue. The height of the machine and the hose stick out, so it really takes up a lot of storage space. And it comes with a lot of accessories that you have to store separately.
I'm glad I purchased this through Target.com and not another online retailer, it gave me the security that I could return it if I was not pleased instead of being stuck with an expensive machine that I hated using.
